July 8th, Jet Aircraft: A-3 Skywarrior, A-4 Skyhawk, A-5 Vigilante, A-6 Intruder, B-57 Canberra, Boeing 707, Boeing 727, C-20 Gulfstream, C-135 Stratolifter, C-140 JetStar, C-141 Starlifter

Last week was a very busy one, with many scheduled appointments as well as a few unscheduled events that delayed this update.

Judging from the very low number of visitors so far, though, I seriously doubt that there are very many disappointed followers of this blog. Is this a worthwhile project?  Please let me know your thoughts about whether or not I should continue, and/or how I might improve it.

So, this post consists entirely of some of the jet-powered aircraft that participated in the Vietnam War. It definitely is not all inclusive, due to the fact that not all aircraft were assigned to or ever landed at Da Nang Air Base, while I was there. For example, even though the B-52 was used extensively, I never saw one at Da Nang.

  4. Phillip, John, & Calum,
Thank you for your kind words and feedback.
We recently moved from Hawaii back to the mainland and I have been off-line for most of the time since the end of June.
I have been thinking about expanding this blog to include some of my Air Force service photos that I took before my arrival in Vietnam, I.E. the flight lines at Stewart AFB and Chanute AFB.
Do you think these might be of any interest?

  5. Please upload more. It is remarkable to see such incredibly composed and exposed photographs. Everything I've been blessed to see so far from the life on base to the aircraft my father would have loved to see. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to preserve and share your memories.

    1. I am sorry to say that I have no more photos to share from Vietnam. I do have a few more from my earlier Air Force days at Chanute AFB and Stewart AFB but they seem a bit off-topic in this blog. If you or anyone is/are interested, I'd be happy to send them to you electronically.
Thank you for taking the time to post your kind comments and words of appreciation!
